Royal Navy lodge celebrated the start of the Festive season by holding its traditional white table event on Wednesday 1st December.
Despite the warnings of the new Covid variant, which kept some people away, 20 of the members along with their guests and visitors enjoyed what was for many their first taste of Turkey for the year.
The guests and visitors were entertained in the bar courtesy of our newest Steward, Bro Steve Ashdown while a brief regular meeting was held in the temple.
The meeting itself allowed the essential business of electing WBro Peter Rodd as Master of the lodge for 2022 along with confirming several charitable donations and confirming that WBro Peter Young be offered honorary membership in recognition of his services to the lodge. Peter joined Royal Navy lodge in November 1964 and served as master 10 years later. (1974).
After the meeting was concluded, the brethren retired, and they and their guests reconvened into the lodge to sing several festive carols under the expert guidance of WBro Douglas Darby.
The guests retired from the lodge where a festive board of Turkey & Xmas pudding was served. The Raffle raised £230 and the brown envelope collection raised a further £70.90. Both funds were in aid of the almoners fund.
Lastly, a choir of visiting masters joined our own Bill Richer in a choir and the guests enjoyed the traditional “Twelve days of Christmas”
