St Lawrence Challenge for the Travelling gavel

Our April meeting saw us welcome Brethren from the St Lawrence Lodge 3350 to Royal Navy Lodge for a memorable evening of friendship, fraternity, and Masonic spirit.

The evening comprised of an interesting explanation of some of the symbolism related to the degree of a fellowcraft which had been expertly put together by WBro Peter Rodd.

Their visit was made even more special as they arrived in strength to mount a determined challenge for the Travelling Gavel, bringing with them great enthusiasm and camaraderie.

The travelling gavel is an initiative throughout Group 8 (Thanet) designed to encourage inter lodge visiting.   The gavel had been recently acquired from Trinity lodge by the Royal Navy lodge at their February meeting.

The atmosphere throughout the evening reflected the very best traditions of Freemasonry — mutual respect, good humour, and the strengthening of bonds between our Lodges.

We thank the Brethren of St Lawrence Lodge for their support and excellent company, and we look forward to continuing this friendly rivalry and welcoming them again in the future.
