After 2 years, The Royal Navy lodge came back with a bang at out Ladies night which this year was hosted at the Pavilion in Broadstairs
A Great night filled with Great People, our WM John Mills and his lady Tracey hosted the event which was attended by over 120 guests. The evening begun with the usual welcome and toasts hosted by our wonderful DC James Close. During the meal, the usual brown envelope appeal raised over £140. (Despite our own WM forgetting the brown envelopes and sourcing a somewhat larger version!)
After the main meal, our Stewards expertly paraded the room and the generosity of the guests raised £875 from the raffle. A quick heads and tails with Kieran Mills acting as our guest tosser. This was won by WBro Michael Salter of Trinity lodge. Much was the disappointment from the crowd of losing the cuddly toy guide dog, a second prize appeared and was quickly auctioned off raising an additional £50.
Our senior warden presented a gift of a watch to our lady, Tracey Mills as a token of the lodges thanks for her support in the brilliant way John has represented Royal Navy lodge over 2021 & 2022. Our senior warden also let slip our WM’s original suggestion of a lawnmower!
Lastly, our secretary conducted an auction to squeeze those last pennies for our charity. Special thank going to our newest brother Steve Ashdown and his partner Sally who had donated a collectable model set courtesy of Hornby Hobbies. This along with a couple of other larger prizes raise further funds towards our masters charity of the year which was to help train a guide dog for the blind.
Our WM and his ladies retired and the evening continued on with the floor packed with dancing from the 70’s, 80’s & 90’s.
Hearty thanks were recorded by everyone involved in the organising of the event which raised £1969 towards out masters charity for the year.
