Martin is a retired taxi driver and joined Royal Navy Lodge in 1989 serving as Master in 1995. Martin was also treasurer of the lodge for a number of years. More recently, he has served in the offices of director of ceremonies and Tyler of the lodge. He is a keen supporter of the Tuesday night Lodge of instructions.
