It is customary at Royal Navy Lodge that each year, our Senior Warden hosts that Lodge of Instruction Supper. Typically, this is an opportunity to appreciate a good meal (and a glass of wine) with our wives and partners and to enjoy the fellowship of the Royal Navy Lodge family. It is also a further excuse to raise funds for local good causes.
The venue for our annual Lodge of Instruction Supper tends to change each year and is usually held “off-site” but for this year our Senior Warden – Johan, and Charity Steward – John had other ideas. Dinner would be at the Ramsgate Masonic Centre, and Keith and Debbie (our regular caterers) provided us with a perfect menu. But once the plates were cleared, we would be enjoying a chance to play “Mr & Mrs” under the expert governance of Charity Steward John – four “willing” couples were invited to the floor re-live the popular 1980’s game show and to prove how much they know about each other.
Our Worshipful Master Bill Price and his partner Jan were first to go, and Bill was duly banished to another room while Jan gave what she hoped were the correct answers to her questions. This absolutely proved the case, and Bill and Jan walked away with a perfect score for the first round of questions.

Three further couples stepped up to challenge, questions such as “favourite film”, and “biggest fear” were the undoing of these unfortunate few, and a strong showing in the second round saw Bill and Jan take the honours at our first Mr & Mrs.
The obligatory Raffle followed with a wide and varied assortment of prizes seemingly sourced from Selfridges, Temu, and all other outlets in between. The proceeds of our evening were then duly donated to a local charity – Thanet Riding for the Disabled.
This year’s Lodge of Instruction Supper really was a fun night out, and if John is able to conjure up a fresh volley of questions, it will certainly be an event that we’ll be running again.

Thanks must go to Johan for organising (and for those Raffle prizes), to John for writing the questions and for being the perfect compere, to Keith and Debbie and their team for excellent service, and to everyone that came along and supported the evening.
